Privacy Policy

Plant Health, Identifier, Care (Android, package com.getitdone.plan.care.identifier)
Effective date: November 3, 2026

This policy explains what information the app "Plant Health, Identifier, Care" (the "app") uses, why, where it goes and what choices you have. The app is made by GetItDone ("we", "us"). If you have a question, write to getitdone.best@gmail.com.

In short

1. Who we are

GetItDone is the developer of the app and the party responsible for the processing described here (the "controller" under EU and UK data protection law). Contact: getitdone.best@gmail.com.

2. Information Collection and Use

2.1 Plant identification on your device

The free identification uses machine-learning models that are part of the app and run on your phone. No network request is made for it and the photo is not sent anywhere. Photos you take or pick, the results and your garden are kept in the app's private storage on your device.

2.2 Online AI features (only when you use them)

Some features need an online AI service. They run only when you start them (for example by tapping an online identification, running a diagnosis, sending a chat message or searching in the plant finder). The app sends only what the feature needs:

FeatureWhat is sentSent to
Advanced AI identificationThe photo(s) you chose, your app language and a fixed instructionGoogle Gemini (through Firebase AI Logic). If Gemini's answer is not good enough, the same photo is sent to Pl@ntNet.
DiagnosisThe photo(s), your app language, your answers to the short questions and, if you diagnose a plant from your garden, its nameGoogle Gemini
Plant chatYour messages in the conversation, your app language and, if the chat is about one of your plants, that plant's saved details (names, care notes)Google Gemini
Plant finderYour answers (light, placement, pet safety, care level, size, flowering, purpose) and your app language. No photo.Google Gemini
AI plant factsThe scientific name of a plant and your app language, when the built-in library has no care information for it. No photo.Google Gemini

We do not send your name, e-mail address, advertising ID or location to these providers. The providers process the data under their own terms (links in section 3). We use the paid tier of the Gemini API, under which Google processes the content only to provide the service and does not use it to improve its products (it may keep it for a limited time for abuse monitoring, as described in Google's terms). Please do not include personal or sensitive information in photos or chat messages.

The app does not currently use any other online identification service. If we add one, we will update this policy first.

2.3 Optional photo contribution (opt-in)

You can choose to share a photo to help improve the free offline model. This is off by default. The app offers it only after you confirmed the plant's name, and you decide each time (Send / Not now) or switch on automatic sending in Settings.

2.4 Weather (optional)

The weather card and weather-aware watering advice are optional. You choose a city from a list that is built into the app (the search runs on your phone). The app then sends that city's coordinates to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway) weather service to get the forecast, and refreshes it about once a day in the background while weather is turned on.

Instead of a city, you can turn on "use my location". Only then does the app ask for the approximate (coarse) location permission. It reads the phone's last known approximate position when it updates the forecast, rounds it to about 1 km, and sends only those rounded coordinates to MET Norway. The app never requests precise location or background location, never stores a location history and never sends your location to us or to any other service. You can switch back to a city, or revoke the permission in Android settings, at any time.

2.5 Reference photos

Example photos of plants are loaded from Wikimedia Commons when you open a plant. This is an ordinary web request, so Wikimedia's servers see your IP address. No information about you or your garden is sent.

2.6 Usage statistics and crash reports

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used (for example that a scan was started, that a plant was added, that a reminder was completed, that the paywall was shown or a purchase completed). These events never contain photos, plant names or text you type. Firebase also collects standard information such as an app instance ID, device model, OS version, country, app version and session data. We do not set a user ID.

The Android advertising ID permission is included by Google's Firebase, Play services and Google Mobile Ads libraries. Firebase Analytics may read the advertising ID for analytics, and the Google Mobile Ads SDK uses it to show and measure ads (section 2.11), in both cases unless you reset or deleted it in Android settings.

We use Firebase Crashlytics to fix crashes. A crash report contains the error details, device model, OS version, app version and an installation ID. It contains no photos and no garden data.

2.7 App configuration and abuse protection

The app downloads settings from Firebase Remote Config (for example which AI service to use) and uses Firebase App Check with Google Play Integrity to show that requests come from the genuine app. These services use a Firebase installation ID and device integrity signals; they do not contain your photos or messages.

2.8 Purchases and subscriptions

Subscriptions are sold through Google Play Billing. Google handles payment; we never see your card or payment details. The app receives the purchase status (which product, whether it is active) and a purchase token from Google Play. If we verify purchases on our server, the app sends the product ID and purchase token with an anonymous Firebase ID for that check only.

2.9 Notifications

If you allow notifications, the app shows care reminders and optional weather alerts. They are scheduled on your phone; no push server is used. You can turn them off in the app's Settings or in Android settings.

2.10 Backups

The app supports Android backup. If Google backup is on for your phone, your garden database and app settings may be included in your Google account backup (encrypted). Photos are not included in the cloud backup, but they can be copied when you transfer data directly to a new phone. Backups are controlled by your Android and Google account settings.

2.11 Ads

The free version of the app shows ads (such as banner, native, full-screen and optional rewarded ads) from Google AdMob. Premium subscribers see no ads.

To show and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects your device's advertising ID, IP address, device and app information, and your interactions with ads. Google may use this information to personalise ads (see "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services", linked in section 3). Where the law requires it, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and some U.S. states, the app asks for your choice through Google's consent message (Google User Messaging Platform) before ads are initialised. Where that message offers privacy options, a "Privacy options" entry appears under Me in the app and lets you review or change your choice at any time. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ads personalisation, in Android settings (Settings > Privacy > Ads; the exact path depends on your phone). We do not send your photos, plant names, garden or messages to ad networks.

3. Third-party services

These services process data on our behalf or as independent providers, under their own policies:

4. Permissions

5. Data retention and deletion

6. Security

Data in transit uses encrypted HTTPS connections. Your garden data and photos are kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read. Our backend accepts requests only from the genuine app (Firebase App Check) and only lets the owner of an anonymous ID delete its contributions. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

7. Children

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (as defined by the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, COPPA). The online AI features use services that are meant for adults and are intended for users aged 18 or over. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, e-mail us and we will delete it.

8. Users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom

We process personal data on these legal bases (GDPR / UK GDPR):

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Most data stays on your phone and is under your control. For anything else, e-mail us. Because we have no accounts, we may ask for the anonymous ID shown in Settings to find your data.

9. Users in California

We do not sell personal information for money. When personalised ads are on, the Google Mobile Ads SDK receives your advertising ID and device information, which may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law. You can opt out of personalised ads through the privacy choices message in the app (Me > Privacy options, where it is offered), or by resetting or deleting your advertising ID or opting out of ads personalisation in Android settings. The categories of information we handle are those described in section 2 (photos and messages you send to online features, device and usage identifiers including the advertising ID, ad interactions, approximate location if you enable it, and purchase status). California residents may request to know about or delete their personal information by e-mailing us. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

10. International transfers

Our service providers (such as Google, Pl@ntNet in France and MET Norway in Norway) may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, these transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions used by those providers.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy, for example when we add a feature or a service provider. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date, and for important changes we will also let you know in the app where appropriate. Please check this page from time to time.
